A law firm in Westlake Village, CA is seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney with interest in civil litigation. Firm is willing to train attorneys. This is a great opportunity for new attorneys. The ideal candidate will eventually be responsible for handling a high volume of motion and pre-trial work, including drafting and responding to discovery and motions, taking and defending depositions, and preparing for trial.

Job Overview:

  • Handling civil litigation matters from inception to resolution
  • Drafting and responding to discovery and motions
  • Taking and defending depositions
  • Conducting legal research and analysis
  • Communicating with clients and attorneys
  • Managing case information in the case management system
  • Ensuring compliance with legal standards and regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)

Duties:

  • Drafting and responding to discovery requests and motions
  • Conducting legal research and analysis to support case strategy
  • Taking and defending depositions of witnesses and experts
  • Preparing clients and witnesses for depositions and hearings
  • Attending hearings and court appearances on behalf of clients
  • Managing case calendars and deadlines
  • Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and other parties
  • Maintaining accurate and organized case files and documents
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal standards and regulations, including the FDCPA

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the State Bar of California in good standing
  • Experience in civil litigation, preferably in a high-volume environment
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with basic state and federal collection laws, including the FDCPA, is a plus
  • Must be in good standing with the American Bar Association (ABA)

Admission to the State Bar of California
