Purpose/Summary:
The Welder II position is responsible for joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques and operating various welding equipment.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
Under general supervision:

• Operates welding equipment to fabricate and assemble materials based on job specifications (welding processes include, but not limited to, Tig, Plasma, Fusion, Resistance, Auto, Electron-beam, and Stud)
• Sets up welding equipment based on job specifications
• Maintains welding equipment
• Reads and interprets blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements
• Checks welds visually and dimensionally with precision measuring instruments for conformance to blueprints and specifications
• Manufactures and maintains component parts and fixtures as required
• Consistently maintains specific tolerances and accurately performs dimensions
• Checks parts using specified gages or furnished fixtures to see that dimensions are being maintained
• Maintains a neat and orderly work area
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures; follows all applicable safety rules and precautions
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Required Qualifications
Knowledge, Skill & Ability:

• Working knowledge of shop geometry and trigonometry
• Trade qualified with recognized apprenticeship
• Effective written and verbal communications skills with the ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Mathematical ability
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints

Education/Experience:

• Professional welding certification, and
• Three (3) years relevant experience working with a variety of metals, including exotic metals
