About the role
Cargado’s marketing lead will be responsible for building the marketing department from the ground up. This presents a unique opportunity to define the brand voice, market to two diverse audiences, stretch across multiple aspects of marketing, and work closely with the CEO and Head of Operations.
This role reports to the Head of Operations.
What You'll Do
- Partner with the CEO and design to define the brand strategy and voice.
- Own content creation and management; work with the CEO and leverage his organic following to further develop US-Mexico freight content that gets disseminated across multiple channels.
- Build and own Cargado’s paid and organic brands to help us grow our brand and create a strong marketing funnel; this work applies across both the broker (B2B) and carrier (B2C2B) sides of the marketplace.
- Plan and execute organic digital marketing campaigns to increase brand visibility and drive user acquisition.
- Partner with product launches and new feature education across the customer base.
- Optimize customer retention and engagement.
- Travel to 4-6 conferences per year to help represent Cargado's brand.
- Quarterly visits to border cities to expand Cargado's footprint.
- Bring creative ideas to the team about new ways Cargado can interact with our prospects and customers.
About you
- Bilingual, with strong writing skills in both English and Spanish, as well as cultural understanding of those audiences.
- 3+ years of generalist marketing experience in a high growth company.
- Prior experience at a start-up or building a growth marketing strategy from 0 to 1.
- Enthusiasm to work on strategy through execution and build something from the ground up.
- Creativity with building specific out of the box campaigns for very niche audiences.
- Competence across multiple content channels and the ability to adapt to new trends.
- Deep curiosity about getting to know new audiences. Prior freight experience isn’t required.
- Experience ghostwriting is a plus.
- Focus on marketing a consumer product or a marketplace is a plus.

- This is a hybrid role based in Chicago with 2-3 days a week in our Wicker Park office.
