This is a full-time hybrid position; however, you must reside near Miramar, Florida
Sr. Staff Accountant
The Senior Accountant's primary job purpose is to apply the principles of accounting to analyze/reconcile financial information and prepare financial reports and statements.
Responsibilities:

  • Enter month-end journal entries within 3 - 5 business days of the end of the month.
  • Completes balance sheet reconciliations within 30 days of the end of the month.
  • Ensures AP vendors are paid on time within defined parameters. Meets weekly with Controller to review payments due and work collaboratively with the Finance team in positively managing business cash flow.
  • Creates and runs periodic control reports to ensure that all subledger transactions are affecting the correct General Ledger Accounts. Corrects discrepancies and reclassifies transactions as necessary.
  • Works closely with AP and AR teams to correct and avoid erroneous entries and assist team members with extraordinary transactions including research and solution.
  • Assists Accounting Manager with ensuring that the subledgers are closed on a timely basis and in accordance with the accounting calendar.
  • Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommends changes as needed.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting for internal and external customers.
  • Prepares and distributes financial statements including the Balance Sheet, Income Statement and Cash Flow Statement.
  • Works on cleanup, as well as, improvement projects that will result in increased accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assists Accounting Manager and Controller with cash flow management and forecasting.
  • Creates strong relationship with vendors to establish true business partnerships.
  • Participates in and conducts inventory audits of warehouse.
  • Approves AP invoices for processing.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Participates and collaborates cross-departmentally to improve accounting processes and create greater efficiencies.
  • Participates in meetings, collaborates ideas and works on meeting the changing needs of the business.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent post-graduate education.
  • Minimum 2-5 years experience in similar role.
  • Practical knowledge of accounting standards, conventions and principles such as GAAP, SFAS rules, etc.
  • CPA Required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Excellent internal and external customer service orientation.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically, intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced professional office environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments projects and tasks concurrently.
  • Must be detail oriented and execute with a high level of accuracy.
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and display personal and corporate integrity.
  • Must be self-motivated and results-driven.
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Must be team focused.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems such as MAS 500, SAP, Oracle, or other financial systems.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
