Job Overview

Depending on assignment, perform greeter duties as part of Residence Hall Ambassador Program or perform housekeeping service duties. Assignment can change with or without notice.

Essential Functions
  • Residence Hall Ambassador Program assignment:
    • Greet residents, visitors and vendors entering and exiting residence halls
    • Periodically inspect the building and report problems and entrances to ensure doors are securely shut and there are no building issues. Report problems to appropriate personnel, such as but not limited to broken doors, locks, and windows, burned out lights, or other problems affecting operation of the residence halls. Work as liaison to Emergency Maintenance and campus partners as necessary.
    • Report unauthorized or suspicious individuals and circumstances to Public Safety personnel
    • Establish and maintain working relationship with residents and residence hall staff while working with UC Housekeeping personnel, emergency maintenance, and outside contractor personnel

  • Housekeeping Services assignment:
    • Periodically audit residence hall restrooms and common spaces to ensure cleanlines.
    • Alert and assist Housekeeping and/or Emergency Maintenance team with building emergencies, such as floods, overflowing toilets, bodily fluids (vomit, feces, blood, etc.), and/or vandalism.
    • Empty dehumidifiers as needed

  • Perform hall opening and closing room preparation as needed.
  • Perform housekeeping related duties during peak times.
  • Primary shift will include overnight hours Tuesday thru Saturday from9pm-530am,including weekends and holidays.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.


Required Education

High School Diploma or GED

Required Trainings/Certifications
  • Some positions may require a valid driver's license with an acceptable record
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Must complete field training program and HR training program (customer service, interpersonal communications, conflict resolution, problem solving, emergency response protocols, first aid training, and documentation) within six (6) months

Required Experience
  • One (1) year of customer service related experience
  • Knowledge of proper use and care of radio, radio equipment, telephone, and computer
  • Ability to handle and prioritize events occurring simultaneously
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly and correctly
