Compliance Manager - Salt Lake City, Utah. Partial remote – 1-2 days a week in office.
Our client for this Compliance Manager position is a Direct Selling Company that offers various trading educational products and services as well as Wellness and Cosmetics to a global audience. As their customer base is rapidly growing, they are currently looking for a personable but firm and assertive individual to head their dedicated Customer Support team.
Objective
The compliance department plays a central role in managing adherence to and enforcement of compliance with respect to internal rules and regulations from several government and regulatory agencies. You will lead and support day-to-day compliance operations and surveillance initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the company’s compliance efforts by designing, implementing, documenting, and updating internal controls, policies, and procedures to assure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Work with management and staff to research, identify, and manage compliance risk, ensuring the company has internal controls that adequately measure and manage the risks it faces.
- Manage investigations into regulatory and compliance issues.
- Work with management and teams to ensure there are procedures and guidelines in place on how to respond to a possible compliance breach.
- Design and implement appropriate disciplinary measures to avoid future recurrences.
- Educate the field on compliance issues and best practices.
- Train teams; create and distribute compliance policy and procedure manuals.
- Provide advice on rules and regulations in real-time.
- Develop and implement programs to remove trademark infringement in improper claims found on the Internet.
- Ensure continual monitoring and review of compliance procedures, including internal audits to help identify possible areas for improvement.
- Respond to regulatory inquiries.
- Maintain genealogy tree structure.
- Review compensation plan with management on an annual basis.
Requirements
- 8-10 years compliance experience in the MLM/direct sales industry.
- Understanding of MLM model, genealogy tree structure, and compensation plan structure.
- Advanced knowledge of FTC/FDA/DSSRC regulations as well as the regulatory issues specific to the MLM industry.
- Experience and comfort working with field leaders and representatives.
- Deep understanding of MLM terminology and principles.
- Ability to teach and lead a team of analysts.
- Familiarity with social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
- Conflict resolution experience.
- Analytical and detail-oriented.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively present information and interact with regulatory bodies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and ambiguous entrepreneurial environment.
- Positive attitude.
- Law degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree required.
- Knowledge of Spanish preferred.
- Previous titles appreciated: Head of Customer Support, Head of Customer Services, Customer Service Director, Customer Services Manager.
