Salary Description
Salary range is $50,000-55,000 Annually
The Development and Data Associate plays a pivotal role in supporting Openlands' fundraising efforts, emphasizing data management and technological support. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Development and collaborates closely with the Development team, contributing to various aspects of fundraising activities and database utilization.
Essential Functions and Percentages
Event Planning and Execution (10%)
- Support the planning and implementation of special events including the Annual Luncheon, Leadership Circle Luncheon, and other cultivation and stewardship events as needed.
- Assist the Institutional Grants Manager in maintaining AirTable to ensure all project management elements of the grants process are maintained and easily accessible for review.
- Support tracking and reporting on grant activities and outcomes as needed.
- Maintain donor paper files and ensure database integrity.
- Implement systems for tracking major gifts and contact reports within the database.
- Manage development database records, including regular updates and data accuracy checks.
- Process donations and gift acknowledgments daily and direct the monthly and annual development/finance gift reconciliation process.
- Utilize database knowledge and gift trends to execute and analyze special campaigns, direct mail, annual fund, and other giving strategies.
- Develop, disseminate, and maintain business documentation to ensure compliance with data integrity rules.
- Produce regular development and campaign reports to monitor progress and inform strategy.
- Prepare and execute acknowledgement letters and pledge reminders in a timely manner.
- Assist with the submission and tracking of foundation grant proposals and reports, as well as direct mail appeals.
- Maintain established procedures and standards for grant agreements, pledges, tribute gifts, matching gifts, and other types of contributions.
- Analyze data and create campaign dashboards to support the long-term development of major and planned gifts and growth of the annual fund.
- Conduct research to make recommendations for building the donor pipeline, including foundation and major donor prospect research.
- Support the Assistant Director of Development in planning and executing annual fund direct mail, Earth Day appeal and digital appeals and others as assigned.
- Collaborate with the Communications Department to create digital giving opportunities.
- Track donor solicitation activities and prepare mailing lists for printed materials.
- Prepare donor lists for the Annual Report, ensuring donor recognition preferences are met.
- Maintain the department calendar, tracking and coordinating all major development activities.
- Assist in preparing donor briefings for events and other special projects as needed.
- Contribute to special projects as assigned by the Assistant Director of Development.
- Bachelor's degree required; 2-3 years of fundraising and/or event planning experience preferred.
- Proficiency in fundraising database systems for research, reporting, and tracking purposes.
- Experience with project management tools like AirTable preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong project management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience in events management is a plus.
