Job Summary
As SQL/Business Intelligence Developer, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the information reporting systems for our client, including the design, configuration, implementation, and proactive management of the organization's databases, warehouse solutions, backup, archiving, and monitoring resources.
Job Description
We are looking for a SQL/Business Intelligence Developer. This position will be a full-time and remote contract opportunity.
What You'll Do
- Innovate, articulate and provide well-thought out recommendations, solutions and ideas to existing problems as well as forward-thinking opportunities for improvement.
- Analyze the organization's database needs and develop a long-term strategy for data storage.
- Lead activities relating to database systems development, documentation, and implementation.
- Maintain, improve, and create new complex Microsoft SQL database objects including but not limited to stored procedures and functions.
- Troubleshoot/Resolve database performance issues.
- Design, document, create, unit and system test, deploy, and maintain databases including data warehouses.
- Work with the business and other teams to develop and implement business rules for the data warehouse.
- Support the development team with any database-related issues.
- Develop reference and workflow documents for documentation purposes.
- Identify and evaluate industry trends in database systems as a source of information and advice for the Informatics Manager of Data Management, Director of Informatics, and/or Chief Information Officer.
- Review project requests describing database user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish tasks.
- Coordinate with Informatics and Data Science staff, as needed.
What You'll Need
Required:
- Minimum 6 years' experience in one or more of the following areas: healthcare claims environment and reporting development, demonstrated experience in n-tier development and support including Microsoft SQL database development including relational and star schema data warehouses, ETL, data archiving.
- Experience with SQL Server 2008 R2 or above, Visual Studio Professional/Enterprise 2017 or above, Azure Dev Ops, SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, Advanced SQL, C#, .NET, PowerShell or equivalent of higher education or higher education/experience 2-year degree required.
- One or more of Microsoft data systems certifications such as MTA, MCSA, MCSE, ITIL v3, or applicable certification(s) may be substituted to equivalent degree requirements.
- Advanced SQL and MS SQL Server operating systems knowledge.
- Understanding of how to work with database projects in Visual Studio (currently on 2019 Pro or Enterprise).
- Experience in database development, maintenance, and execution of mission-critical large-scale system upgrades.
- Advanced knowledge in ETL and data warehousing.
- Knowledge of ALM and SDLC principles as well as an understanding of analysis of structured and unstructured data and of relational and star schema Microsoft SQL databases.
- Knowledge of Azure Dev Ops as a platform to serve as a master demand repository, workflow tool, source control/code promotion mechanics.
- Knowledge about Agile techniques like: Users Stories, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Deployment, Automated testing.
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards. Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc. Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
