Lumina is looking for an Accounting Intern to join our team in Maryland.

This position is a paid internship with the potential for extension into a full-time role. The Accounting Internship will provide you with real-world application of GAAP and financial principles, exposure to full-cycle accounting, and the opportunity to develop relevant skills in various accounting functions. You will gain valuable insights into the accounting profession and build a strong foundation for your future career.

In this role, you'll get to:

1. Collaborate with the accounting team to compile and analyze data, track information, and support company operations.
2. Process daily inventory transactions, including purchases and usage; perform physical counts of inventory and reconcile accounts at month-end.
3. Participate in reconciling general ledger accounts and preparing financial reports.
4. Gain experience in full-cycle accounting and assist with month-end close procedures.
5. Support the accounting manager and senior accountants with additional month-end tasks.
6. Contribute to ad hoc projects as required by the organization.
7. Perform other general accounting duties as assigned.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

1. Enrollment in or recent graduation from a bachelor's degree program in accounting or finance.
2. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meticulously review and verify financial information to ensure accuracy.
3. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and complex formulas, to effectively manage and analyze financial data.
4. Knowledge and experience with accounting tools and software, to support various accounting tasks and processes.
5. Strong mathematical skills, with the capability to perform precise calculations, reconciliations, and data analysis to support accurate financial reporting.
6. A general understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and their application in daily accounting activities.
7. Availability to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week, totaling 20-35 hours.
