SQL Developer

We are seeking an experienced SQL Developer to join our team, focusing on technical reporting and data management. The ideal candidate will have strong SQL skills, especially in developing and maintaining complex SQL statements and tables that support PowerBI visualizations. This role involves collaboration across teams to gather requirements, design solutions, conduct testing, and support production environments.

Responsibilities:

• Establish and document technical requirements for reporting software, including tables, views, report designs, unit test plans, and test cases.
• Contribute to all phases of the reporting software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to production support.
• Test and debug PowerBI reports based on user requirements, working with subject matter experts to validate data accuracy (PowerBI knowledge is a plus).
• Develop and maintain complex SQL statements, tables, and views used by PowerBI developers for visualizations.
• Lead SQL design sessions and code walk-throughs to ensure adherence to standards and best practices, using dbt.
• Create SQL tables with dbt according to established standards; familiarity with Snowflake, Git, pull requests, Visual Studio Code, and dbt is recommended.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for database models, tables, methods, and standards for consistency across the team.
• Provide input on development standards and application architecture based on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
• Conduct unit testing and assist in user testing for complex SQL statements and report modifications to ensure quality.
• Train team members on development processes and standards to promote consistency and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

• Strong expertise in SQL, with experience creating, modifying, and optimizing complex SQL statements, tables, and views.
• Experience with PowerBI reporting is beneficial.
• Knowledge of dbt, Snowflake, Git, pull requests, Visual Studio Code, and SQL development best practices.
• Proficiency in unit testing, user testing, debugging, and data validation.
• Strong skills in technical documentation and training team members on development standards.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
