What you'll be doing:

  • Lead engineering services practice at 5. Primary responsibilities would be to provide leadership, coordination, and support to 5’s team-based project delivery and consulting practice, particularly in the areas of energy engineering, demand response, distributed generation (including solar and batteries), energy efficiency, and electricity and natural gas commodity data analytics.
  • Assume responsibility as 5’s subject matter expert for energy efficiency, demand-side management, and distributed generation, including vendor selection and management.
  • Work closely with the 5 team to improve and evolve 5’s use of technology and analytic tools to help solve complex, energy-related problems for our clients.
  • Work with 5’s business development teams in a technical sales role to identify and communicate how the firm can help clients optimize how energy is procured and consumed.

What you'll bring:

  • Team player that will contribute to 5’s outstanding company culture.
  • At least 7 years of experience in facilities engineering or other similar operating role focusing on commercial/industrial applications of HVAC, controls, electrical systems, combined heat/power, and distributed generation.
  • Self-aware and confident; able to deliver and receive constructive feedback to help advance 5’s efforts to change the energy advisor/broker industry.
  • Prefer Professional Engineering (PE) license or CEM certification.
  • Advanced communication skills in both written and verbal forms to help deliver complex solutions to 5’s clients.
  • Experience presenting to internal and external groups of various sizes.
  • Experience with vendor selection and management.
  • Advanced EXCEL skills including VBA, macros including connections to external data sources.
  • Development and delivery of complex presentations using PowerPoint or other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience in the application of demand response and other grid reliability programs is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of electricity and natural gas commodity markets and supply contracts.
  • Project management and time management skills to support 5’s fast-paced work environment.

Location:

  • While this is a remote or hybrid role, we are looking for someone who resides or is willing to move to Texas, specifically in the DFW or Houston area.
