Job Overview
Under general direction of the Construction Office Chief, incumbent serves as a Construction Engineer and/or as a Resident Engineer on complex projects (or group of projects) requiring a large staff to monitor the contractor's operations. Responsibilities include directing the processing of payment to contractors and change orders, and planning, organizing, and directing the difficult engineering and administrative tasks of the District Construction Field Office. The incumbent will also direct the processing of Construction Contract Claims.
The incumbent will be required to commute and make frequent construction job site reviews. Construction job sites are typically located adjacent to freeway/highway traffic.
While at their base of operation, incumbent will work in a climate-controlled office under artificial lighting. The incumbent may also be required to travel and work outdoors and may be exposed to dirt, noise, uneven surfaces, and/or extreme heat or cold.

Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions.

Position(s) located in Valencia, Los Angeles County. Multiple positions may be filled from this recruitment.

Special Requirements
Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required. Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.
