SUMMARY


The Network Engineer is responsible for configuring, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining data, voice, and video network services and equipment. This role oversees the daily administration, monitoring, and maintenance of all technology systems in a geographically dispersed Cisco-based MPLS and SD-WAN environment. Systems primarily include Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, Microsoft Servers, Active Directory/Azure, and various other network and security appliances and services. Additionally, the role requires experience with cloud-based voice systems such as Microsoft Teams.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


·        Configure, install, troubleshoot, and maintain data, voice, and video networks.

·        Manage network infrastructure, capacity, connectivity, and security.

·        Support Cisco routing, switching, and wireless technologies.

·        Support cloud-based voice systems (e.g., Microsoft Teams) and related unified communications solutions.

·        Configure, manage and troubleshoot virtual network appliances, including virtual switches, load balancers, and proxies within cloud environments such as Azure.

·        Configure Proxy, Reverse Proxy, and internet monitoring hardware.

·        Design network hardware infrastructure for new offices and office remodeling projects.

·        Maintain firewalls and resolve proxy-related issues.

·        Provide technical guidance and assistance for escalated support center issues.

·        Test new hardware, software, and peripherals, focusing on their impact on the network.

·        Offer input on procurement and deployment of new hardware and software solutions.

·        Provide on-call and after-hours support as needed to address network issues.

·        Create and maintain network documentation, including transition plans, diagrams, and problem resolution.

·        Travel to various locations, both within and outside the state, as required.

·        Investigate, analyze, and resolve hardware and network-related problems across various devices and network components.

·        Manage purchasing and warranty processes for network hardware and software.

·        Lead or contribute to network-related projects as assigned.

·        Perform other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


·        Advanced troubleshooting skills for complex network environments.

·        Knowledge of routing and switching protocols (e.g., EIGRP, VRRP, BGP, Policy Routing).

·        Proficiency in Windows environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and related networking services.

·        Experience with virtual network appliances such as virtual switches, load balancers, and proxies within cloud environments (e.g., Azure) is strongly preferred.

·        Familiarity with cloud-based voice and video technologies, including Microsoft Teams and related unified communication platforms.

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document network architecture and issues effectively.

·        Problem-solving aptitude, with a focus on customer satisfaction and technical efficiency.

·        Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.

·        Flexibility to handle after-hours work and participate in on-call rotations.

·        Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

·        Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

·        Willingness to travel as needed for network projects.


QUALIFICATIONS

·        A minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing Cisco IOS switches, routers, and network infrastructure is required.

·        Hands-on experience with routing protocols such as EIGRP, VRRP, BGP, and Policy Routing preferred.

·        Strong knowledge of Spanning Tree, VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP), Cisco IOS Access Control Lists (ACLs), CDP/LLDP, SNMP, and NetFlow.

·        Experience with cloud-based voice systems like Microsoft Teams or other unified communication platforms is required.

·        Familiarity with SD-WAN, MPLS or VPLS is required.

·        Understanding of network load-balancing strategies, with hands-on experience with Kemp load balancer is a plus.


CERTIFICATIONS

·        CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) required.

·        CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or higher preferred.
