Professional Permit Trainee

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Full attendance and active participation in the training program, including classroom exercises and hands-on instruction.
• Consistently maintains positive feedback from instructors and driver/coaches throughout the training.
• Assists designated drivers in route completion, learning all aspects of the job.
• Enrolls in CDL school and obtains a CDL permit license within the first 45 days of the training program.
• Obtains a CDL Class A license within 90 days of the training program.
• Meets defined performance expectations during the initial 90-day probationary period.
• Attends all required company meetings and adheres to safety practices and company policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• May include inclement weather conditions and frequent stops.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to learn to use all necessary equipment and tools.
• Must be able to work scheduled/assigned times and required overtime.
• Basic math skills and ability to work with money collected from customers.
• Must be able to perform coupling procedures for the Tractor/Trailer.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Must pass DOT written examination and controlled substance abuse screening test.
• Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions and pass DOT physical.

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma/GED preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Basic math skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum one year of experience operating heavy motor vehicle equipment or as a warehouse selector preferred.

• Must be able to perform physical activities as described.
