Colin Gordon Associates is a small but internationally recognized acoustics and vibration and noise control consulting firm. We specialize in the design of low-vibration and low-noise buildings for the microelectronics, nanotechnology, imaging, and research communities, and are seen as a leader in this environment. We also provide acoustics and vibration control consulting on more traditional buildings, including healthcare and office facilities.
We are seeking applicants for a consultant to join our team. This is an opportunity to participate in an area of expanding importance, developing unique solutions to new and interesting challenges in noise and vibration control.
Applicants should have a BS degree or higher in disciplines such as acoustics, civil/structural engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics, with a MS degree preferred. Ideal candidates for this position will have around 2-5 years of professional experience, however candidates with a broad range of experience levels and technical backgrounds will be considered. Previous consulting experience or other work in vibration and noise control is preferred.
Familiarity with building design and construction, measurement instruments, DSP, and general theory of acoustics and vibration is desirable. The position will involve computer modeling for vibration and acoustics analyses, which could include finite element analysis (FEA) of structural systems, building acoustics modeling and ray tracing, and/or environmental noise modeling. Prior coursework in, professional experience with, or interest in learning such software is ideal.
Candidates wishing to work full-time from our office in the San Francisco Bay area, full-time remote, or in a hybrid arrangement will be considered. Field measurements are a critical aspect of our consulting work, and travel to project sites to conduct acoustic and vibration measurements will be required on occasion.
Good written and oral communication skills are required. The applicant must be able to work in a team environment, but also independently.
We offer excellent salaries and benefits (health, 401(k)/profit sharing, etc.). CGA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
