Accounting Manager

Our client is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, and must have experience within the logistics or shipping industry (NVOCC is highly preferred). They should be well-versed in managing financial operations, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance, while also being able to handle the unique challenges associated with the business.


Job Type: Full-time/hybrid


Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
  2. Prepare and examine financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.
  3. Develop budget forecasts and financial statements.
  4. Conduct month-end and year-end close processes.
  5. Monitor financial transactions and reporting.
  6. Perform audits and assist with tax filings.
  7. Reconcile bank statements and manage financial discrepancies.
  8. Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  9. Provide financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions.
  10. Maintain constant communication with the CFO, providing updates and reports as needed.
  11. Handle basic HR responsibilities as needed.

Experience:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  2. Minimum of three years of accounting experience
  3. Proficiency in SAGE software
  4. Knowledge of MAGAYA software is preferred
  5. Experience in the shipping or logistics industry is highly preferred
  6. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations
  7. Excellent knowledge of the US tax system
  8. Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  9. Attention to detail and accuracy
  10. Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
