The Structured Finance team is responsible for raising external project financing, primarily tax equity financing, for utility-scale renewable energy projects as a key contributor to RWE's growth and financial objectives. The ideal candidate has first-hand experience in marketing/origination with tax equity investors and leading renewable energy financing transactions. The Director, Structured Finance will have significant internal and external exposure given RWE’s growth targets.
Responsibilities:
- Direct marketing and origination activities with tax equity investors and tax credit buyers.
- Lead evaluation of financing options to maximize RWE returns and meet other key strategic and financial criteria.
- Lead the structuring, negotiation, and due diligence for tax equity transactions.
- Manage various workstreams necessary to successfully execute financing transactions, including having a lead role on structuring the economics of the transaction, negotiating deal documentation, and diligence management.
- Provide coaching and development to junior members in the team.
- Recommend and lead process improvement initiatives.
- Assist with various internal ad hoc projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (required) with a background in business, finance, accounting, tax, or other analytical field.
- MBA or similar postgraduate degree is considered a plus.
- Minimum 12 years of experience overall in roles with emphasis on financing modeling and financing renewable energy projects or similar infrastructure.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant finance experience in the US renewable energy industry with a focus on tax equity financing.
- Advanced level knowledge of renewable energy project economics (specifically wind, solar, or storage) and related incentive systems.
- Advanced level knowledge of tax equity partnership flip structures, funding models, and agreements along with experience in negotiating such agreements.
- Experience in marketing and building relationships with tax equity investors and originating tax equity financings.
- Strategic approach with ability to apply creative thinking to solve complex problems.
- Team player with a proactive mindset to work independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Effective communicator with strong written and presentation skills.
- Strong project management and organization skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deliverables.
- Motivated self-starter, goal-oriented, and strong problem-solving abilities.
