Our client, a top international law firm based in the UK, is looking for an Associate with a strong background in join their Manhattan office. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of New York Labor Law, particularly Sections 200, 240(1), and 241(6), as well as extensive experience managing complex casualty claims, including construction accident cases and workplace injury litigation. New York Labor Law is a statute that impacts defense of personal injury cases in NY. This position offers an opportunity to work on high-stakes cases, collaborate with senior partners, and provide expert legal counsel to a diverse client base.


Key Responsibilities:


Manage and litigate a wide variety of New York Labor Law cases, with a focus on Sections 200, 240(1), and 241(6).

Handle all aspects of litigation from inception to resolution, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, trials, and appeals.

Provide strategic legal advice to clients on labor law, risk management, and casualty claims.

Conduct thorough legal research and draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents.

Collaborate with internal teams and experts to evaluate liability and damages in complex labor law cases.

Negotiate settlements and handle mediations and arbitrations as necessary.

Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing timely and effective communication throughout the litigation process.

Stay current on developments in New York Labor Law and industry-related regulations.


Qualifications:


Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Admission to the New York State Bar.

Minimum of 2+ years of experience practicing labor law with a focus on casualty claims, including construction-related accident claims.

Extensive experience with New York Labor Law litigation, particularly Sections 200, 240(1), and 241(6).

Strong litigation skills, including trial and appellate experience.

Excellent analytical, research, and writing abilities.

Ability to manage multiple cases with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.

Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.

Preferred:


Experience working with insurance defense or in-house legal teams.

Familiarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
