Lead Technical Consultant, Migration

The Lead Technical Consultant, Migration is responsible for the successful migration of data across various systems, requiring both technical expertise and strong leadership. This role involves coordinating efforts across multiple teams and collaborating with business stakeholders, functional leads, and technical teams to develop and execute a data migration strategy that aligns with Synoptek’s and its customers' business objectives. Ensuring data integrity and quality throughout the migration process, the Lead Technical Consultant, Migration plays a crucial role in enabling accurate and consistent data for decision-making and operational efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the analysis and evaluation of application sources to identify and extract relevant data for migration
  • Develop and manage a detailed data migration plan, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation, ensuring the plan is aligned with broader business transformation goals
  • Oversee the execution of data migration activities, monitoring progress, and making real-time adjustments to scripts and processes as needed to ensure data is transferred accurately and efficiently
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to support data cleansing and validation efforts, ensuring that migrated data meets quality standards and is fit for business use
  • Design, develop, and optimize scripts for data extraction from multiple sources, ensuring compatibility and seamless integration with target systems
  • Create and maintain data templates and packages that standardize the data migration process and ensure consistency across different data sources
  • Develop and implement transformation logic to accurately convert source data into target formats, ensuring that the data is correctly structured and formatted for its intended use
  • Coordinate with business SMEs, functional leads, and technical teams to align data migration activities with business needs, providing regular updates and addressing any issues or roadblocks that arise
  • Establish and enforce data migration best practices, including data quality checks and validation protocols, to ensure the integrity and reliability of migrated data
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all data migration-related inquiries, providing expertise and guidance to stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve the data migration process, staying informed of industry best practices and emerging technologies that could enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of data migration efforts

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, equivalent years of experience in data management or migration may be considered. The ratio is 1:1 - meaning one year of college equals one year of work experience and vice versa

Experience

  • Customarily has at least 8 years of experience in data management, data migration, or a related field
  • Customarily has at least 3 years of experience leading or managing data teams, with a proven track record of overseeing data migration projects and ensuring data quality and integrity
  • Proven experience in developing and executing data migration plans, including the design and implementation of data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes
  • Strong background in data analysis and cleansing, with a focus on maintaining data integrity and quality throughout the migration process
  • Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams, including business SMEs and technical leads, to ensure successful data migration

Work is performed primarily in an office or remote environment. The final location is based on business need. May be subject to time constraints and tight deadlines. Will require up to 50% onsite travel.

Salary Range
The following information is required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act and applies only to individuals working in the state of Colorado. The anticipated starting pay range for Denver, Colorado applicants for this role is $148,789.13 to $170,641.00 with a median of $162293.10. Actual compensation is impacted by a number of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, specific work locations and any potential licenses and certifications required for that role.

The following information is required by the Illinois Equal Pay Transparency Act and applies only to individuals working in the state of Illinois. The anticipated starting pay range for Chicago, Illinois applicants for this role is $150,896.63 - $173,058.02 with a median of $164,591.87. Actual compensation is impacted by a number of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, specific work locations and any potential licenses and certifications required for that role.
