Job Position: Senior Accounting Clerk
Location: Ridgeland, SC 29936
Pay Rate: $22.00/hr
Shift: Mon - Fri 8am to 5pm
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for performing moderately complex technical account work in preparation and maintenance of the budget, procurement functions, and various financial correspondence for the county government.
MAJOR DUTIES:
• Provide administrative support to the Director of Administrative Services
• Provide accounting support duties relative to budget preparation and maintenance, grants, procurement, and other accounting functions of the County.
• Assist with preparation of financial and statistical statements and reports.
• Analyze financial information, including but not limited to, budget to actual monthly reports, to identify discrepancies.
• Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely fashion.
• Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards.
• Compile and prepare routine reports and summaries.
• Prepare cash receipts documents on a weekly basis.
• Reconcile bank statements quarterly or as needed.
• Maintain digital and physical financial records.
• Enter financial transactions into internal database.
• Assist in the procurement process as needed.
• Issue invoices and grant reimbursement requests to customers and external partners.
• Participate in quarterly and annual audits.
• Aid other departments as needed with regard to financial reporting.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
• Knowledge of County accounting policies, internal control procedures, cash receipts posting processes, and budget and procurement ordinances.
• Skill in the use of computers and various software programs, including Excel and Word.
• Skill in interpersonal relations.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Proficient to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, including Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently on assigned duties.
• Demonstrates an ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associate degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, or similar field, preferred. However, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience can be substituted.
• 3 - 5 years of relevant hands-on experience
