The Role

Are you motivated by driving business outcomes and interested in partnering closely with leadership in our newly-formed IFIT business within Lumen?

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Innovation Project Manager to join Lumen’s Innovative Finance Intel Office (I-FIT), which focuses on delivering Finance-related AI and innovation initiatives and providing Finance Portfolio management. A successful candidate will guide and manage innovation and artificial intelligence (AI) projects from concept to completion, bring a creative yet structured approach to problem-solving, deliver impactful results for cross-functional business unit initiatives, and possess a strong understanding of project management principles, innovation methodologies, and change management.

This role has been designated as fully remote, US.

The Main Responsibilities

  1. Manage, guide, and oversee the full lifecycle of innovation projects, from ideation to execution, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
  2. Create detailed project plans, define key milestones, and establish project timelines. Monitor progress and adjust as necessary to achieve project objectives.
  3. Lead change management initiatives associated with new processes, systems, or product rollouts to ensure smooth adoption within the organization.
  4. Operate with a strong focus toward Lumen’s finance organization stakeholders and ensure that projects and solutions deliver to their needs.
  5. Serve as a liaison between the Finance organization business units and I-FIT, to source additional innovation opportunities and provide dynamic support services as needed.
  6. Develop, plan and manage implementation of activities for highly complex projects/programs for external/internal customers throughout their lifecycle.
  7. Analyze work plans and schedules and develop project progress and status reports (including executive status updates).
  8. Owner of resource requirements/allocation and facilitation of project meetings.
  9. Set program objectives and establish clear measures to define and meet project deliverables and timelines. Utilize the change control process to track schedule changes.
  10. Ensure adherence to project related policies and processes.
  11. Reiterate scope, roles/responsibilities and schedule on a regular basis and provide team members a single point of contact for all project issues.
  12. Employ judgment to make business decisions about things that will impact the project, customer or company and has the authority to stop activities from proceeding when continuing to move forward would have a negative impact.
  13. Identify and ensure participation of all required internal and vendor resources to ensure the on-time delivery of sold services within budgetary guidelines.
  14. Negotiate due dates based on resource/network availability to maintain Lumen’s profitability and to meet customer requirements.
  15. Understand project goals and objectives as it relates to customer’s business strategies and long-term needs. Deliverables include project assessment, team formation, schedule preparation, status/jeopardy reports, risk analysis, project status reports, and post implementation analysis.

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
  2. 4-8+ years of project and outcome-based work; prior innovation, product development, R&D environments, and/or finance related experience preferred.
  3. Strong business acumen and analytical problem-solving skills.
  4. Strong communication, meeting facilitation, and relationship building skills.
  5. Experience guiding stakeholders to achieve outcomes and project objectives.
  6. Ability to be adaptable and embrace ambiguity.
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring a high standard of quality.
  8. Leveraging different project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean, or Scrum).
  9. Knowledge and experience with Innovation frameworks (e.g., Design Thinking), project management tools and software.

Preferred

  • PMP or PRINCE2

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

$84,740 - $112,980 in these states: AL AZ FL GA IA IN KS MO MT ND NM OH OK PA TN UT VT WI WV WY

$88,980 - $118,630 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI

$93,210 - $124,280 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.
