Ability to work in conditions such as heat, cold, rain and snowMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Valid current driver\'s license as required by the State of Illinois.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust have a thorough knowledge of applicable traffic laws; locations, names and addresses of University buildings; names and locations of University streets and the most efficient routes among points on campus. Must be proficient at safely securing supplies, equipment, furniture and rubbish.Thorough understanding of University and F&S vehicle policies, F&S policies and procedures, including filing of accident reports and immediately reporting problems to the immediate supervisor.A basic understanding and ability to use computers, tablets and other electronic devices.Skill in operating auxiliary equipment (such as tail gate lifts, snow plows, or refuse equipment) and ability to proficiently operate various vehicle types within their current licensing classification.Must have an elementary knowledge of auto mechanics and be able to fuel vehicles, check their fluid levels and add fluids as necessary, and detect andreport malfunctions/damage of vehicles and their systems.Ability to safely perform heavy lifting (50 lbs. minimum), pushing, and pulling along with ability to move equipment and supplies on and off trucks.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions including maintaining appropriate records as requiredSupport the Mission, Vision, Values and Guiding Principles of Facilities & Services.Appointment InformationThis is a 100% full-time Civil Service 2066 - Driver position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search close date. Salary is established by a collective bargaining agreement and is currently \$25.12/hour.
