Champion Data has an exciting opportunity for ambitious and dedicated NLL Data Collector’s to join our team!


The Data Collector’s role is to accurately collect and report statistical data for NLL games. The roles vary, and the timely delivery and accuracy of data is dependant on the successful completion of these roles.


These are part time roles for the collection of statistics on game day, 4 to 20 hours per week across the NLL season running December to June and pay an hourly rate of $35 USD per hour.


Key Responsibilities


  • There are five different roles that make up the NLL stats collection team. This consists of two roles located in our statistics bunker out of Los Angeles, California, and three roles in stadiums across the US and Canada (not included in this job advertisement).
  • The two roles as part of this job advertisement are “Back Caller” and “Keyboarder”


Back Caller

Works in conjunction with the Ground Caller and Keyboarder to ensure all statistics entered are as close to 100% accurate as possible. This is done by making notes during each quarter and reviewing the video feeds.

This role requires an elite level of player identification of National League Lacrosse players and preferably prior experience calling professional sports. The Backup Caller role is located in the NLL Bunker in Los Angeles

Other key components of the role including assisting the main caller with off the ball plays and referee calls.


Keyboarder

Records all the statistics that occur throughout the entirety of a National League Lacrosse match by listening to the Caller via phone headset. They also work in conjunction with the Back Caller during NLL matches, to edit statistics during the breaks. The keyboarder role is located in the NLL Bunker in Los Angeles.


Other duties may include but are not limited to the following:


  • Assist with statistical queries from coaching staff, media and other clients
  • Assist with quality control and data verification
  • Oversee key Champion Data products and deliverables included within our NLL partnership
  • Assist with NLL data verification and definitions


About You


  • Previous experience in an elite sport stats team is highly desirable (preferably basketball, hockey or lacrosse)
  • Experience working with high profile media partners to deliver sports data insights and analytics is highly desirable
  • A strong interest in elite sport with a focus on Lacrosse
  • Experience with explaining technical problems and solutions to a non-technical audience
  • Experience working with high profile media partners to deliver sports data insights and analytics
  • Must be available to work games on Friday and Saturday nights, with exact schedule to be provided during the season
  • Reliable and punctual, arriving on time for shift start, with season long availability across all games
  • Team player, ambitious, high energy, with a strong work ethic and personal drive
