Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Creative Services, the candidate will be a critical member of the Integrated Marketing and Communications (IMC) Division. The Coordinator of College Graphics (Graphic Designer) works collaboratively with the Department's Director and graphic design team members. The Department is responsible for the creative direction, design, and production of print and digital marketing collateral that promote College admissions and retention initiatives, elevate and maintain the College's brand identity, and meet the communication needs of individual departments and divisions across the College.
The position is based at the Bunker Hill Community College Charlestown Campus with the opportunity for telework as outlined by the College's Telework Policy.
Specific Duties:
- Designs and produces a broad range of internal and external print and digital graphic materials including advertisements, brochures, catalogs, posters, wayfinding signage, and for web, social media, and video.
- Collaborates with team members within the Marketing & Creative Services Department including one Coordinator of College Graphics and one Graphics Technician, as well as website, digital content, video production, and communication team members within the IMC Division meet campaign objectives.
- Leads design and creative direction for paid advertising campaigns across digital and traditional media (Google Display Ads, social media, print advertising, and out of home advertising including billboards and MBTA campaigns).
- Designs the College's BHCC Magazine from layout through final production.
- Works closely with the digital communications team to design and optimize digital assets for the College's website, email marketing, and social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn), ensuring responsiveness and mobile compatibility.
- Collaborates with the videographer within IMC to develop multimedia content and support video projects with engaging graphics, animations, and motion design elements.
- Provides creative direction for branding campaigns across print, digital, and multimedia platforms.
- Collaborates and serves as a key point of contact for internal clients and stakeholders including faculty, staff, and administrators across departments to gain an understanding of their design needs, manage expectations, provide creative direction, and deliver high-quality visual solutions that ensure alignment with the College's branding and marketing strategies, while fostering strong, collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Provides templates and design solutions using platforms like Canva, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint that are easy for stakeholders to edit and update independently.
- Collaborates with College's Facilities Department on the design and placement of wayfinding signage to ensure consistency in design and placement and overall brand alignment.
- Actively participates in developing and evolving the College's visual identity, and maintains strong quality control standards including adhering to the College's brand and logo usage guidelines, editorial style guide, and visual identity.
- Oversees logistics and creative direction for on-campus photo shoots including securing media release authorizations, file management, and uploading/tagging photos in the College's digital asset management system.
- Collaborates with internal and external print services, providing project specs, obtaining quotes and reviewing proofs to ensure high-quality output. Liaisons with external vendors including printers, photographers and illustrators. Provides specs, obtains quotes and supports documentation for the PO/requisition process relative to assigned design projects.
Job Requirements:
- B.A. or B.S. in Graphic Design or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- At least 3 years of professional graphic design experience with a portfolio demonstrating strong print, digital, and multimedia design skills.
- Must possess complete functional knowledge and expertise of industry-standard graphic design software for layout, illustration, and photo manipulation including all Adobe Creative Suite applications, particularly InDesign as well as Illustrator and Photoshop, and a comprehensive understanding of file preparation for various media (print, web, and interactive).
- Must demonstrate superior design capabilities through skillful layout of content, graphic elements and type, and demonstrate advanced proficiency in the creation and use of style sheets.
- Proficiency in creating templates and assets in programs like Canva, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrate proficiency in multimedia content creation, including digital assets optimized for web, social media, and video production.
- Ability to manage time efficiently, including project management skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple stakeholders, work within budget constraints, interact with vendors, prepare print specifications and review press proofs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to translate stakeholder needs into effective design solutions, communicate proactively, and demonstrate problem solving skill as well as strong collaborative skills with experience working in teams and managing external vendors.
- Proven ability to work with a diverse population, including faculty, staff and students.
Preferred Requirements :
- Experience with basic video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, After Effects) and interactive content tools (e.g., HTML5, Adobe Animate).
- Experience working with ticketing systems and management tools, OS Ticket a plus.
- Experience producing graphics for lead nurturing email marketing campaigns with working a Customer Relationship Management platform, TargetX a plus.
- Experience managing photo shoots with working with digital asset management systems, Extensis Connect and Portfolio a plus.
- Knowledge of wayfinding signage design and experience working with facilities and installation teams.
Additional Information:
Salary Range: $71,658-$75,308. Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Full state Benefits
