Reports To: Executive Director
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for all resident activities of a community, including coordinating all internal and external resident activities, creating the monthly activity calendar, arranging outside entertainment, assessing resident preferences, guiding program to meet resident needs, and communicating with the management company on all appropriate matters.
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Plan a basic program of activities for each month to meet the resident's needs and interests through a variety of recreational, diversional, intellectual and community activities as well as service to the community.
- Seek external activity options.
- Involve all residents in activity programming. Working individually with residents to provide personalized programs when needed.
- Evaluate program content quarterly to determine areas where improvement can be made. Confer with Executive Director on areas of change.
- Order and maintain all department equipment and supplies.
- Attend special events meetings and communicate with appropriate departments when planning events that will take place in the facility.
- Maintain an activity attendance record to assist with the evaluation of activities program.
- Confer with the Executive Director on resident satisfaction matters.
- Use the monthly calendar of events to notify appropriate personnel of specific activities, which will occur during the month. Contact department supervisors in person to coordinate their assistance (dietary, nursing, housekeeping and maintenance).
- Create monthly decorations to capture the feel of seasons and holidays.
- Participate in admission process in gathering resident enrichment information and history.
- Good Attendance.
- Post the community activities and events on social media.
- Able to work occasional weekends.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Prior activities coordination/supervision experience preferred. Current first aid certification strongly preferred.
Must have 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
Certifications, Licenses, and other Special Requirements preferred.
Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
Essential Skills:
Must be neat in appearance, possess a pleasant personality, and be congenial with fellow employees and the public. Must be able to supervise staff and volunteers. Must be capable of following instructions and using good judgment and initiative in daily duties. Excellent communication skills.
