Key Details:
- Compensation: $100K - $120K, based on experience and qualifications.

- Location: This role will primarily be based out of our Brush Prairie, WA location, which will serve as the central hub. Initially, you will assist the Tigard, OR location, but your primary focus will shift to Brush Prairie. Some remote flexibility is available.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday.
Who We Are: Madrona Recovery is a leading treatment center dedicated to helping youth facing mental health and substance use challenges. Our program stabilizes symptoms, supports caregivers, and prepares adolescents for long-term recovery through aftercare. As the only residential program in the Northwest offering integrated mental health and substance use care, including opioid detox for teens, we focus on building emotional regulation, resiliency, and communication skills. Who You Are: You are an experienced HR leader who is passionate about making a difference in a mission-driven organization. You thrive in environments where you can combine strategic thinking with hands-on HR management. You excel at fostering a positive work culture, ensuring compliance, and developing HR strategies that align with company goals. Your strengths include leadership, communication, and problem-solving.
Other qualifications include:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Credentials: PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred, but not required.
- Experience: Around 5+ years of HR leadership experience, with a strong background in employee relations, compliance, and HR strategy.
- Familiarity with HR policies, compliance, and legal regulations for behavioral health organizations, specifically for Mental Health Agencies in Oregon and Washington, is a plus, but not required.
- Skills: Excellent communication and leadership skills; ability to manage complex HR functions, including recruitment, performance management, and staff development
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
What You'll Do: As the HR Director at Madrona Recovery, you'll play a critical role in supporting the growth and success of our team. You will lead HR operations, develop strategies to enhance employee engagement, and ensure compliance with employment laws in both Oregon and Washington. You'll also act as a key resource for managers and employees, providing guidance on HR-related matters and fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
Responsibilities Include:
HR Operations:
- Lead the development and implementation of HR processes, including recruitment, orientation, and training programs, particularly for the Brush Prairie location.
- Manage employee records, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Develop compensation structures, benefits packages, and wellness programs that align with company goals and regulatory standards.
- Serve as the main HR contact for staff at both the Tigard and Brush Prairie locations, supporting day-to-day HR needs and resolving employee relations issues.
Recruitment and Hiring:
- Oversee recruitment efforts for 70-90 new hires for the Brush Prairie location in 2025.
- Manage job description updates to ensure accuracy and alignment with organizational needs.
- Manage the hiring process for direct care staff, administrative staff, and other roles at the Tigard and Brush Prairie locations.
- Ensure compliance with background checks, reference verifications, and new hire documentation.
Leadership and Culture Development:
- Foster a strong sense of community and support within teams, recognizing the emotionally intense nature of the work.
- Promote a positive work culture where employees feel valued and engaged, facilitating meaningful bonds among staff members.
- Act as a mentor and resource for managers to address HR-related challenges, coach staff on performance management, and assist in conflict resolution.
- Interact with residents, ages 13-17, ensuring HR processes support a nurturing and effective care environment.
- Support staff working with 18-22 residents at the Tigard location and 40-45 residents at the Brush Prairie location.
Compliance and Policy Management:
- Ensure compliance with HR policies, procedures, and legal regulations in both Oregon and Washington.
- Maintain and update employee handbooks, standard operating procedures, and HR documentation.
- Provide guidance on employee grievances, mediating disputes and ensuring a fair and transparent resolution process.
- Handle workman's compensation claims and manage the Employee Assistance Program for both locations.
- Other duties as assigned.
