Job Opportunity: Diversity Director
St. Josephine Bakhita Parish is looking for a leader with high initiative and a passion for the diversity of the Kingdom of God. Under the guidance of the Pastor, the Diversity Director will help implement the parish’s mission statement of advancing diverse expressions of the global Catholic Church among the people of God gathered in Northland and promote our guiding principles of justice, reconciliation, and liberation.
Overall Responsibility: Communicates to the staff, parishioners, Ethnic Mass Communities, and wider community that we value our ethnic and racial diversity at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish.
Reports to: Pastor. Serves as a member of the Leadership Team.
Additional Information: Catholic preferred and the ability to work weekends.
Major Responsibility Areas: Organizational Culture, Multiethnic Ministry, and Communications
Organizational Culture
- Serves as a partner with the Leadership Team, staff, parishioners, and community-at-large.
- Develops staff and parishioner diversity training.
- Encourages volunteer involvement through recruitment, development, and recognition.
- Attends, presents, and listens at Parish Council meetings.
- Mediates conflicts among staff, parishioners, and leaders.
Multiethnic Ministry
- Meets with and organizes Ethnic Mass Coordinators.
- Facilitates involvement in parish life and liturgy among the Ethnic Mass Communities.
- Attends and supports Ethnic and Parish Community events.

Communications
- Creates and edits print publications (bulletins, newsletters, mailings, bulletin boards, etc.).
- Creates and edits digital publications (Facebook, Flocknote, Website, slides at mass, etc.).
Requirements:
- Ability to use Microsoft 360 – outlook, word, excel, calendar, publisher.
- Proficient in use of web designer, social media, and administration of online databases.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Experience developing content for distribution to an organization or community.
- Experience working with and coordinating volunteers.
- History of developing and implementing diversity initiatives.
- Ability to show demonstrated comfort and experience working among diverse cultures.
- Enjoys meeting new people and is grateful to work in a Christian environment.
- Demonstrated ability to hold sensitive information confidential.
- Self-starting, initiative-taking, and able to function dependably and independently.
- Exercise good judgement, innovative thought-leadership, and creativity.
- Experience with facilitation and presenting to internal and external groups.
- Strong critical thinking skills and analytical skills.
- Solid skills managing multiple tasks and projects and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of the concepts related to diversity.
- Highly effective communicator with the ability to share ideas, concepts, and plans.
- Solid organizational and time management skills.
Education:
- High School Diploma required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of diversity experience, including designing and implementing programs/plans.
- At least two years of management experience to include hiring, training, coaching, and developing team members.
