Position Overview:
The Sales and Event Manager is responsible for generating revenue by securing bookings for events, conferences, meetings, and social functions, while also managing the end-to-end planning and execution of these events within the hotel. This role requires a blend of sales acumen, event planning expertise, and strong client relationship management to ensure successful events that meet both client expectations and hotel revenue targets.
Responsibilities:
Sales Strategy Development:
Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to increase revenue and market share for hotel rooms, catering services, and food and beverage outlets. Develop quarterly sales action plans to support revenue goals. Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.
Set sales targets and goals for the sales team and monitor performance against objectives.
Client Relationship Management:
Cultivate and maintain relationships with corporate clients, event planners, travel agents, and other potential customers.
Conduct sales meetings, presentations, and site tours to showcase hotel facilities, catering services, and food and beverage offerings.
Respond to inquiries, prepare proposals, and negotiate contracts for group bookings, events, catering services, and dining reservations.
Revenue Generation:
Drive sales revenue by promoting hotel accommodations, meeting spaces, banquet facilities, catering services, and food and beverage outlets.
Maximize occupancy rates and average daily rates (ADR) through effective pricing strategies and revenue management techniques.
Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling of hotel amenities, catering packages, and dining experiences to enhance guest satisfaction and increase revenue.
Marketing and Promotion:
Develop and execute marketing campaigns and promotional activities to drive awareness and demand for hotel accommodations, catering services, and food and beverage offerings.
Collaborate with the marketing team to create marketing materials, advertisements, and online content.
Participate in industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to promote the hotel and its hospitality services.
Budget Management:
Develop and manage sales budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
Monitor sales expenses, commissions, and incentives to ensure cost-effectiveness and profitability.
Control sales-related costs and overheads to maximize profitability and return on investment (ROI).
Communication:
Become an extension of the client by disseminating all group requirements to the respective departments in the hotel.
Ensure the timely distribution of all communication to the appropriate departments and be the on-site contact for the client during their events
Verify all space requirements and meeting room set-ups with client and ensure that event
space needed is properly maintained and in good condition
Finalize Banquet Event Orders in a timely manner
Oversee contracted group room blocks to include cut-offs, attrition and distribution of rooming
lists

Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED certification required.
Experience in a hotel or related field preferred. Previous Marriott Experience preferred
Strong sales, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
Knowledge of hotel operations, catering services, food and beverage trends, and revenue management principles.
Proficiency in sales and customer relationship management (CRM) software. Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and possess
basic mathematical skills
o Reading, Writing, Basic Math
o Computer skills
o Brand systems
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
The Sales and Event Manager plays a pivotal role in driving sales revenue, maximizing occupancy, and promoting the hotel's hospitality services. Their strategic leadership, sales expertise, and customer-focused approach are essential for achieving business objectives and ensuring the success of the hotel's sales efforts across all areas of operation.
