We are Hiring skilled Top Level Steel Seam Welder
This position is responsible for accomplishing, with minimal supervision, production seam welding on a ship or in a shop to support structural repairs, construction, and modernization of marine vessels including US Naval Vessels, Military Sealift Command, and commercial ships and barges. Attachment of metal work pieces using welding or tack welding processes, preparation of welding equipment and work pieces according to specifications. The qualifications and general capabilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability desired by the shipyard.
Position Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be a U.S. person.
- Must be able to work at heights.
- Must be able to work in confined and enclosed spaces.
- Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.
- Must be available to work all 3 shifts, and weekends, as required.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Experience in manual seam welding of steel and aluminum in a shipyard.
- Set up and operate welding equipment to weld metal pieces together according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders.
- Weld straight seams with consistent acceptable results
- Set up and maintain welding equipment and operations
- Weld metal parts together manually
- Previous experience FLUXCORE welding with ceramic tape
- Ability to read shop orders and custom blueprints
- OSHA 10 certificate.
- MUST be capable of passing a 3 day seam welding test
- Must have your own tools
- Must be willing to work any shift and 6 - 7 days per week
