Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Claims Assistant in our Claims team.

Our team members frequently interact with claims professionals in our parent company in Japan, delivering exceptional service by effectively bridging the gap between different cultures and customs. What you'll be doing:
  • Entering payment information into our proprietary system based on incoming invoices and payment instructions from claim handlers.
  • Verifying incoming invoices and payment instructions from claim handlers to ensure there are no duplicate payments or errors in instructions and ensuring there are no backlogs in processing reserves or payment transactions.
  • Managing claim documents such as invoices, settlement agreements, and wire instructions.
  • Setting up new claim files, saving documents, and entering claim information, including claim description, status, and reserve into our proprietary system.
  • Acting as the liaison between claim handlers in Japan and the defense counsel for relatively simple claims.
  • Triaging incoming emails and saving them in appropriate folders and sending acknowledgment of new claims to insureds.
What you'll bring:
  • Proficiency in Japanese language and a deep understanding of Japanese corporate culture. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy in numerical data entry and verification with a keen eye for detail. Independently verify instructions, adjust as needed, and proactively request additional information.
  • Ability to follow instructions and implement self-management strategies to prevent errors.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Excel and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with a strong sense of urgency and excellent time management skills.
  • Familiarity with insurance policies, coverage forms, and basic coverage analysis is a plus.
Salary Range: $45,000 - $75,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
