Company Overview:

Our client, a well-established ENR-ranked contractor headquartered in Chicago, IL, is expanding its operations into the Colorado region. They are seeking a driven and growth-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support their Denver operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on project management experience while working with prestigious clients such as the University of Denver, the County of Boulder, and the Town of Erie. The company specializes in Job Order Contracting (JOC) , focusing on infrastructure upgrades, including MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems and historical renovations.


Position Summary:

As the Assistant Project Manager (APM) , you will play a key role in managing multiple infrastructure upgrade projects, collaborating closely with the Project Manager to ensure the successful execution of various scopes of work. This position requires a proactive individual capable of managing project tasks efficiently while building strong client relationships. The role offers exposure to complex projects, including MEP upgrades, historical renovations, and tenant buildouts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Manager in the execution of Job Order Contracting (JOC) projects.
  • Manage project schedules, submittals, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Coordinate with municipal and higher education clients to oversee multiple project scopes.
  • Ensure that all project deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Conduct site visits and collaborate with field teams to ensure smooth project delivery.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-5 years of construction management experience, with a strong focus on MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems.
  • Proficient in MS Project , Procore , and Sage 300 software.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Experience in working with municipal, higher education, or institutional clients is preferred.


Work Environment:

  • Hybrid model offering flexibility between working from home, field project sites, and a WeWork office in Denver.
  • The role requires travel between project sites and interaction with various stakeholders.


Ideal Candidate Qualities:

  • Self-starter with a strong ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proven experience in MEP, electrical, plumbing, and roofing projects.
  • Proficiency in using project management software, such as Procore, MS Project, and Sage 300.
  • Eager to grow into a Project Manager role with a commitment to long-term development, not viewing this position as a stepping stone.
