Job Summary
OdysseyHouse Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant forits Federally Qualified Health Center. The schedule is Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Thisposition is one of the most important functions in the health care deliverysystem and the first point where contact is made personally or by telephone.The person will receive the patient and direct them to the services needed.Making appointments and making preliminary assessments before provider can seethem and provide follow through assuring complete care.
Responsibilitiesand Duties
  • Worksclosely with Medical and Nursing staff to assure smooth patient flow and cutdown on waiting time triage and phlebotomy as needed.
  • Providessupport during clinic sessions to medical providers.
  • Documentspatient vital signs and medical history into patient record.
  • Documentspertinent patient information in accordance to HEDIS, UDS, PCMH, and FQHCguidelines.
  • Communicatespatients' problems/complaints in a consistent manner to identify visit needsfor providers.
  • Managesphlebotomy room and maintenance.
  • Recordsand documents visits in patient's chart consistently to assure quality of care.
  • Data entryinto grant required documentation as instructed
  • Routineutilization of EHR system.
  • Inventoriesand monitors use of office supplies and reordering as needed.
  • Completeson-line/paper Medicaid applications for patients.
  • Participatesin electronic medical record usage.
  • Faxesrequests, referrals, medical records, and any documents needed to pursueeffective patient care and/or billing.
  • Communicatespatients' problems to the medical staff.
  • MaintainsHIPAA guidelines and respects professional boundaries with patients.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent
  • Certificationas Medical Assistant from an accredited medical assistant program or stateagency
  • CurrentCPR
  • 2 years'experience in an FQHC
  • BLS Certification
  • Experiencewith electronic medical records (Allscripts and EPIC preferred)
  • Excellentcommunication, customer service, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills
