Phlebotomist Lab AssistantThe part-time Phlebotomist Lab Assistant will primarily draw blood for research study participants at the University of Pittsburgh Physical Activity Research Center (PARC). Dr. Duck-Chul (DC) Lee is the principal investigator for this study, which is called "DoReps: Dose-Response to Resistance Exercise on Cardiovascular Health". The DoReps study is to test and identify the most effective dose (amount) of resistance exercise for the maximal cardiovascular health benefits in adults with overweight or obesity.This position is part-time working 5-15 hours per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 6:00 am - 9:00 am at the Oak Hill Commons building on upper campus in Oakland. Free parking will be provided at the Oak Hill Commons building. Join us!PARC website: study website: SummaryPerforms select clinical and administrative tasks including, but not limited to, takes patient vital signs and medical histories, performs EKGs, prepares and administers ordered medications, authorizes drug refills, records data into electronic medical records, prepares/cleans/sanitizes treatment rooms pre- and post-patient exam, and cleans and sterilizes instruments and disposes of contaminated supplies in conjunction with all regulations.Essential FunctionsDraws blood and performs blood processing (e.g., centrifuge to separate serum).Could perform other clinical tasks including, but not limited to, takes patient vital signs, performs EKGs, patient specimen collection, takes medical histories, prepares and administers ordered medications, authorizes drug refills, provides prescription information to pharmacies, conducts routine lab tests and sample analyses, and/or explains medical procedures/testing to patients.Performs administrative tasks including, but not limited to, records data into electronic medical records, prepares/cleans/sanitizes treatment rooms pre- and post-patient exam, cleans and sterilizes instruments and disposes of contaminated supplies in conjunction with all regulations, and maintains and orders supplies.Physical EffortMust be able to draw blood and process. Will need to traverse the Oak Hill Commons building. Manual handling of blood samples.
