OverviewThis individual will work with various Information Technology (IT) and business teams to enhance and optimize the company's IT portfolio by providing strong technical direction on IT's short and long-term strategies. Individual will Influence IT's technical standards through collaboration with Enterprise Architecture and ensure that the standards are being implemented consistently. Individual will also drive the direction of the domain technology modernization roadmaps through collaboration with IT's business relationship managers and systems managers. Individual will participate in benchmarks with leading utilities and cross-industry experts. Individual must be expert in a wide range of technologies, providing valuable insights, knowledge, and direction on the architecture and engineering of IT's applications and platforms. Individual must be a thought leader, successfully and productively collaborating with the various business areas and IT teams to support the business priorities of the company while executing the IT strategy and vision. Individual will provide mentorship to aspiring IT Solutions Delivery Solutions Engineers and Junior Solutions Engineers.ResponsibilitiesCore ResponsibilitiesDrives the solution engineering around one or more technology domains (e.g. application, data, advanced technologies, Software As A Service, Operating Systems, Mobility, etc) &/or business process engineering. Engineering includes conceptual or actual/physical representations or models.Technical Leadership: Directs the development and evaluation of roadmaps for applications, technologies and infrastructure, including vendor and internally developed applications. Provides guidance and/or conducts architectural, configuration, solution & quality reviews. Develops staff as needed; researches/provides recommendation on technical training, evaluates/provides feedback for skill development of junior technical staff.Leadership: Takes the lead on issues requiring coordination with all internal IT groups and other organizations, including vendors to ensure that issues are addressed. Directs team members as required for resolution. Communicates & influences strategic direction & can represent IT at senior executive level. Leads large teams in the development of new/enhanced IT products from project initiation through user acceptance and implementation including planning, requirements gathering, business analysis, design, development (coding, configuration, customization), testing, training, and implementation.Builds and leads a high-performing inclusive/collaborative team IT team of architects, business analysts, developers, and testers in new system development initiatives, vendor system integrations and implementations, and on-going technical support.Provides direction on significant, high-impact issues requiring coordination with all internal IT groups and other organizations, including vendors to ensure that issues are addressed.Collaborates with peers; researches, establishes and updates technical standards; manages application development life cycle and methodologies, provides oversight on processes and other governance responsibilities.Monitors the IT & business industry as well as best practices; develops strategies for implementation.IT products include new custom applications, major enhancements to existing systems or vendor packaged applications, any of which may be enterprise-scale affecting multiple companies and departments and integrating with multiple systems.Manage projects including but not limited to resources, scope, budget (costs), schedule & overall project plans.Develops transition plan for project responsibilities to a long-term support structure after project implementation.Aligns with technology partners in IT Operations including infrastructure, IT Planning including network planning and cybersecurity, Office of the CIO including enterprise analytics, IT architecture, data management.Manages vendor resources to deliver high quality deliverables according to agreed upon timeframes and costs.Ensures alignment of technology solutions with IT standards, documentation requirements and guiding principles. Create reusable standards & patterns (e.g., reference architecture).Ensures supportability, scalability, maintainability, reliability, data security, cost efficiency and alignment across IT domains including IT Systems Delivery and IT Engineering & Operations.Develops effective business relationships and manages and maintains open and effective communications with all stakeholders.Performs other related tasks and assignments as required.QualificationsRequired Education/ExperienceBachelor's Degree and Minimum 8 years experience designing, developing, implementing, and operatingtechnologies in one or more IT domains, e.g. applications, data, solution, infrastructure, process change management. orMaster's Degree and Minimum 8 years experience designing, developing, implementing, and operatingtechnologies in one or more IT domains, e.g. applications, data, solution, infrastructure, process change management.Preferred Education/ExperienceBachelor's Degree Preferably in IT, computer science, business administration, engineering or decision sciences including mathematics, analytics,quantitative methods. and Minimum 8 years experience designing, developing, implementing, and operatingtechnologies in one or more IT domains, e.g. applications, data, solution, infrastructure, process change management.Master's Degree Preferably in IT, computer science, business administration, engineering or decision sciences including mathematics, analytics,quantitative methods. and Minimum 8 years experience designing, developing, implementing, and operatingtechnologies in one or more IT domains, e.g. applications, data, solution, infrastructure, process change management.Relevant Work ExperienceMinimum 8 years experience designing, developing, implementing, and operating technologies in one or more IT domains, e.g. applications, data, solution, infrastructure, process change management.- RequiredA minimum of 5 years of leadership or managerial experience. - RequiredMust have a solid understanding of architectural concepts and practices leading to solutions that are reliable, maintainable, reusable, scalable and extensible, e.g. service oriented architectures. - RequiredExcellent oral and written communication including creating PowerPoint presentations. Comfortable and skilled at selling new processes and techniques. Able to communicate designs and give persuasive presentations. Able to interact with all levels of management and communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience. - RequiredStrong emotional intelligence (empathy, self-knowledge). Experience presenting concise, jargon-free, easy-to-understand technical topics to executives. - RequiredExperience with writing or modifying standards and procedures, templates or toolkits. Experience working with peers to develop new reference architectures, tools, methods to be adopted by the IT organization. Conversant in emerging technologies and practices, e.g. Big Data/Analytics, Cloud (SaaS, PaaS), mobile, sensors (Internet of Things). - RequiredFlexible and able to work off-hours as required to support deployments, resolve production problems or respond to corporate emergencies. - RequiredExperience identifying and vetting vendor products preferred, including developing requests for proposal, vendor research and proposal evaluation.
