Job Summary
The Clinical Education Specialist assesses educational needs, plans and delivers orientation and continuing education for nursing staff. They mentor staff, monitor clinical competencies, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, they collaborate with nursing leadership, participate in committees, and contribute to the implementation of evidence-based care.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs for staff, the hospital, and the community.
- Identify orientation needs of new employees, develop individualized orientation plans, and assess employee progress towards competency.
- Assess nursing staff and students, develop educational plans, and conduct classes or provide individualized instruction.
- Collaborate with Nurse Leadership to develop individualized employee improvement or development plans.
- Participate in the development of standards of nursing care practice through committees and workgroups.
- Maintain high professional standards and encourage the development of nursing staff skills.
- Support and role model policies and procedures to ensure excellent care delivery and customer service.
Education/Experience Requirements
Required:
- BSN
- Minimum 2 years in specialty area
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Nursing
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Required:
- Valid and unrestricted state nursing license
Preferred:
- AHA BLS and/or ACLS Instructor certification
- Certification in specialty area
