Pharmacy Technician Job Description

ChristianaCare is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Newark, Delaware.

This is a full-time day/midnight rotating shift position that requires every other weekend and holidays as needed.

The successful candidate will assist pharmacists in providing timely, efficient, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care to patients.

Responsibilities include:

• Refilling patient medication bins through robot cart fill and manual picks
• Updating carts with new orders, removing discontinued medications, and transferring medications
• Delivering and exchanging 24-hour cart fill to nursing units at scheduled times
• Managing automated dispensing cabinet inventory
• Ensuring medications are stored properly and only in-date medications are stored
• Receiving and checking incoming supplier orders
• Preparing IV medications using aseptic techniques and following federal regulations

Requirements include:

• High school diploma required
• Hospital pharmacy experience preferred
• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required
• Ability to read, interpret, and understand provider medication orders
• Ability to handle fast-paced, stressful situations
• Ability to practice principles of customer service
