Breaking News Reporting Intern

Spring 2025 (1), Summer 2025 (1), and Fall 2025 (2)

The San Francisco Chronicle is looking for reporters to join our Breaking News + Engagement team. These paid, 12-week interns will receive training and mentoring, but they will also hit the ground running, covering a variety of stories from the office and in the field.

Breaking news is the focus, but there will be opportunities to pursue projects aimed at engaging our audience and to work closely with our data journalism, development, and audience teams.

Responsibilities:

1. Cover breaking news stories in real-time.
2. Collaborate with data journalism and audience teams on projects.
3. Engage with the audience through various platforms.
4. Participate in training and mentoring sessions.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Strong writing and reporting skills.
2. Ability to work under tight deadlines.
3. Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
4. Previous journalism experience is a plus.
