Position Summary

Pearson is seeking an innovative Machine Learning and AI Engineer to help leverage the growing field of AI in Higher Education. You'll work on exciting projects that enhance learning experiences for university students and support instructors. Join us in creating solutions that improve educational outcomes through the power of machine learning and large language models (LLMs).

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement ML and AI solutions to improve student engagement, comprehension, and personalized learning
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and build innovative educational tools
  3. Explore and apply the latest AI technologies to enhance teaching and assessment methods
  4. Evaluate and optimize AI models for performance, cost-effectiveness, and educational impact
  5. Ensure responsible and ethical use of AI in educational contexts

Requirements

  1. 3+ years of experience in machine learning, deep learning, or AI development
  2. Strong programming skills in Python
  3. Experience with ML libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn)
  4. Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and their applications
  5. Knowledge of data preprocessing and analysis techniques
  6. Understanding of ethical AI principles and responsible AI practices
  7. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field (Advanced degrees welcome but not required)

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience with natural language processing (NLP) and transformer-based models
  2. Familiarity with prompt engineering and LLM fine-tuning
  3. Background in educational technology or e-learning solutions

Compensation

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by various factors including skill set, level of experience, and location. The full-time salary range for this position is $150,000 - $175,000. This role is eligible for our annual incentive program and comprehensive benefits package.
