GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT

A basic and translational oncology research laboratory (principal investigator Dr. John Iafrate) is seeking a seasoned research scientist to assist in grant writing and manuscript preparation. Dr. Iafrate’s laboratory is focused on precision oncology, including genetic and protein biomarker development utilizing NGS and mass spectrometry as well as traditional pathology methods. His laboratory is also developing novel therapeutics, utilizing CRISPR screens and high-content drug screens. The writer should be sophisticated enough to understand the basic scientific principles, and have experience in the peer-review process and in drafting NIH and foundation grants. It is expected that the writer can work closely with post-doctoral fellows and technical staff to draft these documents (including R01, P01 and SPORE submissions), with significant editing and follow-up with the PI. Grant management and manuscript submission will be handled by the PI. Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and Endnote or other reference management tools are required.

  3. Contribute to and help the PI to prepare scientific illustrations and assemble and organize data into figures for scientific presentations, publications, and grant applications.
  4. Help develop and prepare materials for public outreach seminars, leadership meetings, fundraising opportunities, media inquiries, and the lab website.
