Accounts Payable Specialist - Stony Brook CPMP Finance
Location: Stony Brook, NY
Schedule: Full time (At the department's discretion, this role may be eligible for hybrid remote work)
Days/Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:30 AM - 5 PM
Salary Range: $60,840 - $63,753 (pay will be determined based on experience, preferred qualifications, and education)

SUMMARY: The Accounts Payable Specialist is primarily responsible for compiling and maintaining accounts payable records by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices and reimbursements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is largely sedentary and requires the employee to remain stationary for a majority of the day. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.

StaffCo is fully responsible for providing all payroll and human resources services, including the payment of wages, collecting and reporting payroll taxes and maintaining any and all employee benefits. SUNY Stony Brook Hospital is responsible for the operation of the hospital and provision of health care and is the co-employer as is necessary to conduct its responsibilities and for related licensure, regulatory or statutory requirements and obligations.

Responsibilities
SUMMARY: The Accounts Payable Specialist is primarily responsible for compiling and maintaining accounts payable records by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices and reimbursements.
Job Duties & Essential Functions:
- Responsible for processing Accounts Payable transactions, including but not limited to ACH, Check, Journals, Refunds, Voids to accounting system
- Reviews and approves and/or submits invoice reports for vendor payment, verifying policy requirements and accuracy
- Reviews and approves all reimbursement reports for payment, verifying policy requirements and accuracy
- Communicates effectively and timely to department and vendor inquiries, develops and maintains effective working relationships with department and vendor contacts
- Guides departments in understanding policies, procedures, and AP related software
- Reconciles payments with vendor accounts receivable contacts, providing payment details, researching and resolving outstanding balances
- Creates and maintains instruction documents to keep current records of internal procedures
- Responsible for printing and distributing checks
- Resolves check status inquiries
- Maintains all accounts payable files for documentation and record keeping
- Assists in monthly closings and annual audits
- Assists with other accounting duties and special projects, as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in business related field. In lieu of Associate's Degree, 2 years related experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions and think critically.
- Ability to calculate in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to work with large sets of data.
- Knowledge of Accounting Software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in accounts payable.
- Experience in financial software packages.
