We are a young restaurant that is expanding and opening a Wine Bar right next door to us!
We are excited about this new venture and hope you will join us in this excitement!

This is an excellent position for a Sommelier that would like to grow into a wine director position


Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in service, speak to guests in an inviting manner, have fun with the list.
  • Collaborate with the team  on the selections on the wines, beers, and non-alcoholic beverages used in the restaurant for the uses in pairings, by the glass, and those represented as bottle selections on the restaurant’s wine list
  • Maintain cellar, eurocave and the wine fridge organization and cleanliness.
  • Support FOH team with maintaining an accurate wine list, storage locations, and POS system.
  • Actively track and reduce loss through proper pour levels, minimizing waste and loss, alerting management of corked/faulted wines, and dating bottles when opened to ensure optimal window of drinking.
  • Updating the wine list, pairings, educational materials in coordination with team.
  • Recommending food and wine pairings for our guests based on their personal preferences 
  • Continuously taste, research and remain active & relevant in the industry.
  • Get to know the regulars, friends of the house and investors 
  • Be the authority on all beverages sold ; i.e. wine pairings, by the glass, bottle selections, beer, and n/a beverages.
  • Fill the gaps as they appear/be a team player. This could mean polishing glassware, running food, bussing tables, or anything else that would help a teammate during service.
  • Perform restaurant opening and closing activities, organize and alert management of repair and maintenance issues pertaining to the cellar, eurocaves/wine fridges, beverage mise-en-place, etc.

Qualities required:

  • At least 2 years experience as a sommelier.
  • Excellent food and beverage knowledge
  • Strong understanding of POS and inventory systems.
  • Leadership and integrity.
  • Desire and ability to teach and foster growth.
  • Problem solving, multi-tasking & delegation.
  • Initiative & follow through.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication.
  • Keen attention to detail.
