Position Summary
eShipping is looking for an experienced leader to join our growing International team in the KC area! The Import Manager will support managed growth and lead change management initiatives for the international product to achieve team and employee goals. In addition, the manager will support recruiting efforts and will facilitate onboarding and training of new employees. This individual will drive work efficiency by creating and implementing process improvements for U.S. ocean imports. The Import Manager will work onsite at eShipping's home office in Parkville, MO four days per week, with one approved work from home day. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of leadership experience in international freight forwarding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
• Lead and manage change management initiatives
• Support recruiting and facilitate onboarding and training of new employees, conveying eShipping's mission and vision
• Develop key talent to promote future leads, supervisors, and managers by creating an environment that encourages others to develop professionally
• Manage and further develop efficient and effective flow of work to attain optimum efficiency and productivity of department
• Initiate, promote, support, and implement change to increase organizational effectiveness
• Ensure daily monitoring of assigned operations to staff to ensure that all performance criteria and accounting procedures are followed as documented and that all applicable daily reports are managed effectively
• Manage communication with import-related authorities, customers, and suppliers in all relevant countries as necessary to ensure efficient, positive, and lawful relations, support, and activities
• Promote and ensure compliance with international regulations (i.e. FMC, ISF)
• Seek out opportunities to improve gross margin and other revenue sources
• Meet with foreign agents, ocean, air domestic carriers to review service needs and/or service contracts
• Other duties as required by senior staff
Specific Department Responsibilities
• Develop a proficient understanding of FMC regulations, ISF requirements, and basic U.S. customs brokerage laws and regulations
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to then train team members to execute
