**Job Description:**
- Responsible for accessioning specimens, preparing frozen sections, and assisting in gross specimen examination.
- Prepare fixed tissue specimens, and cut, mount, and stain tissue sections for microscopic examination by a pathologist.
- Perform frozen section preparations efficiently, ensuring tissue is embedded properly, cut accurately, and stained correctly for prompt diagnosis.
- Conduct routine, special stains, and immunohistochemical stains.
- Recognize deviations from expected results and use judgment to determine appropriate actions.
- Assist with autopsies according to standard procedures as assigned.
- Organize and prepare tissue specimens and assist in gross examination.
- Ensure order accuracy and choose the correct lab for testing when sending specimens to other laboratories.
- Store or dispose of prepared specimens, slides, and blocks neatly and retrievably.
- Complete required daily procedures with accuracy.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Work in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals, pathogens, and patient blood and body fluids.
- Moderate lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying; must be able to lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally more with assistance.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and reaching, with long periods of computer use.
