SUMMARY OF DUTIES

  • The Private Grants Program Manager is responsible for contributing to the organization's sustainability, strategy, and initiatives by working with the Government Grants team, Data team, Fiscal department, as well as Senior and Executive Leadership to maintain current private grants as well as identify and secure new private grants.
  • This role will work to:
    • Develop a pipeline of private grant opportunities through funder prospecting and cultivation;
    • Partner with the Government Grants team to identify contract match requirements and collaborate on securing private grant funding to help meet match requirements;
    • Create an effective resource development process (e.g.; prospecting, vetting, program officer engagement, proposal development, award announcements, stewardship, and reporting);
    • Oversee the entire private grants process, including tracking systems, reporting (internal and to funders), monitoring spenddown, and proposal development;
    • Ensure budgets align with funder requirements and organizational needs and capacity;
    • Control recordkeeping, vetting, and go/no go decisions processes.
  • The Private Grants Program Manager is required to write applications and reports, analyze program data to ensure appropriateness before sharing with funders, and to ensure expenses are appropriate. The Private Grants Program Manager will also convene and oversee a team of grant writers, editors, quality assurance reviewers, Data team, Fiscal department, and other departmental leads to plan, develop, produce, and submit high quality and timely grants and reports.
  • A successful candidate will have strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills; exceptional writing & communication skills; and is able to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Weekend and evening work may be required to ensure key deadlines are met and other related duties may be assigned as necessary.
  • This position reports to the Director of Advancement Operations and works closely with the Office of Advancement, Administrative Departments, Program teams, Data team, Fiscal department, and the Government Grants team.
  • The Private Grants Program Manager is an in-office position that requires the selected candidate to reside in Hawai'i. The position will be stationed at the organization's Ewa Beach campus.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency - general major. Requires basic knowledge or training in a specialized or technical field or trade, such as social work, professional accounting, finance, business administration, and marketing.

EXPERIENCE

  • Over four years, up to and including six years.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Flexible work schedule that includes some evenings and weekends.
  • MS Office skills are required.
  • Typing with expediency and accuracy in spelling and grammar.
  • Significant organizational skills to perform assignments.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal/customer relations skills.
  • Experience in the private grants process preferred.
  • Data analysis and reporting experience preferred.

OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • This job requires a valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
  • This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
  • Requires contacts both inside and outside at all organizational levels. Requires considerable tact, discretion and persuasion to obtain results. May present new methods, programs, and controversial issues. Improper handling may affect operating results and the delivery of participant services.
