Setup Operator

Job Purpose & Scope
The Setup Operator is responsible for setting up, troubleshooting, and operating the machinery in the Chicago Rockfon factory. These machines include Roll Formers, Turret Presses, Press Brakes and other punching and forming machines. They will be expected to train other operators on the these machines, check quality of products being setup, perform operator level autonomous maintenance and participate in our preventative maintenance program.The setup operator will also be a leader on the floor and will work with all levels of the business including management and engineering on production related projects.
Key Result Areas

• Perform setups efficiently, minimizing scrap, downtime, and quality issues.
• Document setup procedures clearly to facilitate future training and standardization.
• Effectively troubleshoot issues to identify and correct the root cause of the issue
• Execute plans to continuously improve the departments as measured by their Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

Key Responsibilities & Job Content

• Setup and operate key machines in the Chicago Rockfon factory including roll forming lines, punching machines, and forming machines.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and measure parts accurately using calipers.
• Standardize setup procedures and processes including documentation
• Develop setup ability on highly automated equipment

• Flexibility to work on multiple machines in the different departments as needed.
• Operate safely and maintain 5S standards in the plant.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems to identify and correct the root cause
