Job Requirements / Description
  • Reporting to the Coordinator of Homeless, Foster-Care, Neglected & Delinquent. Assists the Coordinator of Homeless, Foster-Care, Neglected & Delinquent by providing identification, enrollment, and support, attendance for students experiencing homelessness or are in foster care, or the neglected and delinquent youth.
Reports to:
  • Homeless/Foster-Care/Neglected & Delinquent Youth Coordinator
Scope of Responsibility:
  • Monitors attendance at schools of homeless/transitional students.
  • Provides assistance to students experiencing homeless and neglected and delinquent students and their families.
  • Maintains case files, reports and all forms to ensure continuity of service and program account ability.
  • Establishes and maintains contact with school personnel for the purpose of discussing and implementing techniques for effectively working with students experiencing homelessness and neglected and delinquent students.
  • Conducts random home visits and maintains appropriate documentation of such• visits.
  • Conducts face to face needs' assessments and conferences with families.
  • Collaborates with school social workers, counselors, and teachers to provide school-based counseling services and support to students experiencing homelessness, neglected and delinquent students attending their schools.
  • Provides information and referral services for students and families for additional community services.
  • Assists in the maintenance of case files.
  • Maintains security of electronic and print records with regard to confidentiality of student information.
  • Maintains security of passwords that are issued for access to databases.
  • Maintains case notes in Frontline for services rendered to foster-care and neglected and delinquent youth.
  • Input, collect and compile data as needed for district, state, and federal reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Homeless, Foster-Care, Neglected & Delinquent or the Executive Director of Health & Related Services.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • We seek detail-oriented, independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations.
Successful 2 candidates will also demonstrate:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited university/college in Social Work.
  • LMSW licensure by the Louisiana Board of Social Work Examiners.
  • Appropriate certification as a Social Worker (Provisional or Qualified) as described in Bulletin 746 of the Louisiana Department of Education.
  • 2+ years experience providing mental health services in schools.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in multiple settings and have the ability to be an engaging change agent and culture-creator that can inspire and motivate.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state laws, policies and regulations relevant to schools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and skilled in Google Suite.
  • Working knowledge telehealth platforms and experience in providing virtual mental health services
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other professionals to obtain positive solutions • Explicit knowledge of evidenced based practices.
  • High degree of professionalism, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking.

  • Bilingual
  • Experience working with at-risk and/or homeless students and their families
  • LCSW Physical Involvement: Sitting is required part of each work day.
  • Must be able to operate office equipment.
  • Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required.
  • Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations and meeting sites.
  • Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.
