AppLovin is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Manager to lead and manage global payroll operations across multiple countries. In this role, you will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, while maintaining strict compliance with local, regional, and global regulations. Working closely with Finance, HR, and Legal teams, you will develop and implement efficient payroll strategies that align with the company’s objectives. You will also manage relationships with external vendors to ensure smooth payroll execution and ongoing process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end payroll operations for all employees, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing across multiple countries and jurisdictions.
  • Ensure data integrity and confidentiality in payroll processing, working to implement best practices in payroll data management.
  • Manage payroll tax filings, audits, and reporting, ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, HR, and Legal teams to develop and implement efficient payroll processes that align with company objectives.
  • Identify and drive improvements in payroll systems and procedures to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Manage relationships with external payroll vendors, ensuring smooth execution of payroll and ongoing service improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with multi-jurisdictional payroll regulations, including local labor laws and tax obligations, as well as adherence to internal policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and present payroll-related insights and reports to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.
  • Manage and mentor the payroll team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to manage relationships with external payroll vendors and service providers.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring a payroll team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments and global teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes for a multi-state organization.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills and ability to deliver quickly with accuracy.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and process to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Ability to build relationships and collaborate across People Ops, Finance, Accounting, Legal, and more.
  • Prior experience to thrive in a fast-paced, hyper-growth organization.
  • A strong desire to help others.
  • Proficiency in multiple payroll, HRIS, and financial systems.
  • Preferred Workday HCM/Payroll experience.
  • Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.

Exceptional Candidates Will Have:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
  • Workday Certified Payroll Expert certification.
  • Experience implementing relevant systems and processes to serve a fast-growing start-up environment.

Total compensation at AppLovin is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Depending on the position offered, equity, and other forms of incentive compensation (as applicable) may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to dental, vision, and other benefits.

USA Base Pay Range: CA, NY, WA States: $161,000 — $241,000 USD.

USA Base Pay Range: all other States (excludes CA, NY, WA): $133,000 — $199,000 USD.
