The Director of Product (DOP) role will report directly to the Platform Director. This role is responsible for overall product development with a focus on driving revenue for our business partners. The DOP will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including engineering, UX design and operations to optimize performance of current products, lead development of new product features and monitor effectiveness of features. This role requires the understanding of consumer and agent personas, basic insurance rating elements and insurance transactional workflows.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Lead product design and development to meet the business needs of our customers and partners.
  2. Collaborate with carriers and other external partners in product development and implementations.
  3. Interpret external partner API documents as well as create proprietary product documentation.
  4. Communicate regularly internally and externally to facilitate the sourcing, development, and optimization of features.
  5. Collaborate with design/UX, operations, and other departments to implement features to meet business goals.
  6. Mine and analyze data driving product decisions.
  7. Develop and maintain a feature roadmap.
  8. Optimize processes within the product lifecycle to gain efficiencies.
  9. Work with other stakeholders on the Product and Engineering team to assess and prioritize initiatives ahead of each development cycle.
  10. Participate in daily scrum with developers.
  11. Collaborate with designers to create wireframes, prototypes, and visual designs.
  12. Develop and manage feedback loops with users.
  13. Create user stories to guide implementation of features.
  14. Help acceptance test features and bug fixes when applicable.
  15. Evaluate that products and systems are defect-free and made to company standards.
  16. Monitor effectiveness of product features.
  17. Monitor and optimize KPIs for segments of the product (i.e. Business Segment Performance or Integration Performance).
  18. Lead and mentor junior product teammates when applicable.

Required:

  1. 5+ years of product experience in software development or similar.
  2. 5+ years of insurance experience.
  3. Prior experience working in an agile development environment.
  4. Advanced technical skills in excel, data management, and data analysis.
  5. Proficiency in programming languages (Python, R, etc.).
  6. Strong analytical abilities.
  7. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $165,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
