As a member of the advancement department of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland, the director of fund development is responsible for planning and administering fundraising and development efforts to support our mission of providing help, creating hope and serving all. We are looking for a highly organized and motivated individual with experience to help ensure seamless funding support for essential programs serving 400,000 people in need each year. Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Management

  • Partner with Catholic Community Foundation to support donor identification, cultivation and management as well as develop a complementary process for non-appeal potential donors.
  • Develop complementary campaigns that support overall giving to Catholic Charities.
  • Identify ways to outreach and engage potential donors that are not currently giving to Catholic Charities.
  • Create vehicles for peer-to-peer fundraising strategies to build donor list.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation and set annual goals for fund development activities.
  • Serve as a key liaison to the Catholic Community Foundation.
  • Attend planning meetings and build relationships with executives and program leadership.

Donor Relations and Stewardship

  • Build and manage a portfolio of donors and conduct direct solicitations.
  • Establish sustainable relationships with community leaders, government leaders, major corporations, and service organizations.
  • Direct cultivation and recognition events ensuring donor acknowledgment and stewardship.

Fundraising Campaigns and Events

  • Organize and implement donor recognition events and activities across Catholic Charities.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Establish appropriate giving protocols and gift tracking.
  • Ensure timely submission of fundraising reports and deliverables.
  • Evaluate vendors for development operations and make recommendations.

Collaboration

  • Integrate communications and marketing efforts into the development plan.
  • Work with the Catholic Charities advancement board committee to engage members in supporting the organization.
  • Stay current on industry trends and regulations related to fundraising.
  • Identify and address any issues within policies and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve fund development processes.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.

Job Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree preferred with at least three years of fundraising experience or bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of fundraising experience.
  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated track record of entrepreneurial problem-solving.
  • Experience in social/human services and health fields preferred.
  • Solid technical skills with strong knowledge of fund development software.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services.
  • Must have valid Ohio driver’s license and reliable means of transportation.
  • Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
  • Experience staffing senior-level executives and volunteers.
  • Ability for some evening and weekend work.
