UCSF Fitness & Recreation's mission is to enrich the human spirit, quality of life, and community at UC San Francisco. We are passionate fitness and recreation professionals committed to doing quality work. Our staff enjoys a team oriented work environment with many opportunities to learn and grow.
The membership unit serves 14,000 members and provides financial support to the department. The Membership Coordinator works under the direct supervision of the Member Services Supervisor and is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day operations, including exceptional customer service and care, sales, retention, database management, billing assistance, clerical duties, promotions, and special events.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $29.03 - $41.55 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

UCSF Fitness and Recreation operates two fitness centers at UCSF. We provide fitness and wellbeing services to UCSF students, faculty, staff , and community members through a broad range of fitness, recreation, aquatics, personal training, outdoor programs, and health and wellness programs.

Required Qualifications

  • High school graduation and four years of related administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service or sales experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Outgoing and friendly with a passion for fitness and exercise; ability to motivate and encourage others on the benefits of exercise
  • Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with deadlines in a customer service setting under minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Demonstrated skill necessary to collect, organize and disseminate information upon request
  • Ability to make sound judgments
  • Ability to conduct presentations to large groups
